    Conduction of 20 one-day Edition 2 Up-Skill (E2U) workshops across Australia, to upskill Edition 1 MHFA Instructors in the use of the Edition 2 curriculum.

    Development of a new edition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Manual and Workbook, based on the Aboriginal MHFA Guidelines.

    Development of drug misuse first aid guidelines for Indigenous Australians.

  • Australian Rotary Health Research Fund
    A randomised controlled trial of the MHFA e-learning CD-ROM.
  • American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
    Development of suicide first aid guidelines for Asian countries.
  • beyondblue Victorian Centre of Excellence
    Development of alcohol misuse first aid guidelines for Indigenous Australians.

2007

  • Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing (OATSIH)
    Completion of draft teaching materials and roll out the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander MHFA Instructor Training Courses across Australia.
  • National Suicide Prevention Strategy, Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing
    Roll out a Youth Mental Health First Aid program, training existing MHFA instructors who have expertise in the mental health of young people to deliver the new course.
  • Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing in conjunction with Auseinet
    Contribution towards adaptation of the MHFA Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
  • Nicks Russell Drysdale Fellowship, University of Sydney
    Employment for one year of an Aboriginal MHFA Trainer of Aboriginal Instructors.
  • beyondblue Victorian Centre of Excellence
    Development of depression MHFA Guidelines for Indigenous Australians.

2006

  • Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Grant
    A randomised controlled trial of a modified Youth MHFA course for high school teachers with the South Australian Dept Education and Community Services.
  • The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR)
    Consultation on the development an e-learning course on MHFA for the workplace.

2005

  • Australian Rotary Health Research Fund
    Development of 5 guidelines for English speaking developed countries for how members of the public can give MHFA for someone in a mental health crisis.
  • The National Suicide Prevention Strategy, Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing
    A consultancy with the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Magistrates Court to write with the mental health literacy component of their Mental Health Support Initiative.

2004

  • Hollie Jackes Memorial Scholarship
    For sponsored positions paying half the fee to train as a MHFA Instructor in rural areas.

2003

  • Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing
    Adaptation of the MHFA program for the culturally and linguistically diverse Communities.
  • Pivot Fertilizer Company
    $22,000 for sponsored positions to train 10 MHFA instructors in rural areas of South Eastern Australia www.pivot.com.au

2002

  • NSW Health Promotion Demonstration Research Grants Scheme
    A randomised controlled trial of the MHFA course in a rural area.
  • Mrs Lara Bishop
    50 copies of her book “Post-Natal Depression: Families in Turmoil” for MHFA instructors.
  • Mrs Jennie Thomas
    $20,000 for the production and printing of the Mental Health First Aid Manual

2001

  • The ACT Department of Health and Community Care
    Seeding funding for 3 years.
