World Mental Health First Aid Day
Wednesday 18 November 2026

At some point in your life, you will come across someone who is struggling with their mental health. This World Mental Health First Aid Day, we’re asking Australia: are you ready when it matters?

1.6 million Australians are trained in Mental Health First Aid, with 3,200 Instructors helping more people learn it. They’re everyday people who can recognise when someone is experiencing a mental health problem, start a conversation and provide support until the right help arrives.

Whether you’re one of them, want to be, or want your workplace to be, here’s how to be ready.

#ReadyWhenItMatters #MHFADay

My workplace isn't trained

Get involved

Whether you’re an MHFAider, Instructor, provider or someone who wants to make a difference, there are several ways you can get involved.

Let’s make every Australian workplace ready when it matters

Mental health conditions are now one of the leading causes of serious workers’ compensation claims in Australia, up 161% over the past decade.

Early intervention is one of the few things that can change that trend.

We spend a huge part of our lives at work, which makes it one of the best places to notice when someone isn’t themselves, and to act early.

We don’t wait for an injury or emergency to learn physical first aid, and we shouldn’t wait for mental health crises to learn mental health first aid.

That’s why we’re calling on employers and governments to make Mental Health First Aid Officers as standard in Australian workplaces as physical first aid.

Already have MHFAiders?

Let your people know who they are and be recognised for the difference they make.
