10 July 2026: Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) International has received formal accreditation under Australia’s nationally recognised government safety and quality standards, strengthening its position as a leading mental health education provider.
Awarded under the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care’s National Safety and Quality Digital Mental Health (NSQDMH) Standards, the accreditation recognises MHFA as structured, safe and evidence-informed training.
Angus Clelland, CEO of Mental Health First Aid International, said NSQDMH accreditation reflects the strength of MHFA’s systems, governance and online training delivery, and reinforces our commitment to ensuring programs are delivered safely and consistently at scale across workplaces, education settings and communities.
“It demonstrates that MHFA training meets recognised national benchmarks, with clear standards, consistent expectations, and participant wellbeing embedded throughout delivery. It also confirms that programs are underpinned by robust systems and safe participation.”
Mr Clelland said the recognition places MHFA International among a select group of national mental health organisations in meeting this rigorous digital standard.
“This accreditation forms part of our ongoing commitment to evidence-based practice, program integrity and continuous improvement, ensuring MHFA training remains a trusted global standard in mental health education,” he added.
With more mental health programs delivered online, the accreditation reinforces the global health promotion charity’s commitment to safety-by-design in mental health training and gives organisations confidence in selecting MHFA as part of their mental health and wellbeing strategy.
The recognition applies to MHFA International as an Accredited Service Provider, with 15 online and blended MHFA programs.
